All the information a user might need when considering an open source image editor is readily available. The site provided a wealth of information in a clean, understandable format, covering everything from an overview of GIMP's applications to what to expect while downloading. Like i say - you do need to commit a ittle bit of time to understand the programme (Like you would even with photoshop if you were new to it) things can seem complcated (for me anyway) at first but when you get past this its a great programme full of functions that closely compare with photoshop! One more thing I will add - I remember using this programme (very lightly) roughly 5 or more years ago on an old laptop and can say it has greatly improved since then from what i remember! Thank you to the creators that have put a lot of time and thought into this free programme!įor a free alternative to Photoshop, GIMP is incredibly useful software.

I use it for light photo editing and resizing for images i upload to my ecommerce store, and i find the functions to be more then sufficient for my needs. HOWEVER once getting past this, learning what i need to do and how it works - i am super impressed! It is a very good software and has many functions. Admittedly the first few hours were somewhat fustrating and i had to read tutorials to understand many functions. Very impressed with this freee software! I recommend giving it a go!Īfter playing around with GIMP for many hours over a few days, i can say that i am very impressed with this software - especially considering it is free! I am very used to photoshop, but after switching over to a new computer that doesnt have photoshop and not sure that i use the software enough to justify spending £10.00 a month i thought i would try out gimp before reconsidering.
